Thole Demba Trekking is the best village trek in the foothills of the Himalayas. Going off the main trekking route, staying with a local family, sitting on the floor in a smoky hall, and eating whatever the family can offer or cook for us is the best way to experience the Nepali lifestyle and daily life. Recently, my friend Macha from France and I did the trek from Maili village to Pokali Jharan (waterfall). The trek was excellent, not too hard, had a very good trail, and rarely had other Westerners. It was very quiet, and the scenery and landscape were amazing. There were no commercial lodges, just little local tea shops that offered delicious local food.
